ABOUT ME

Tatum Grell (she/her) is a proud native of Phoenix, Arizona. At age 9, Tatum saw a friend perform in Grease Jr. (the PG-version of a movie she had never seen), and immediately auditioned for her first musical. Performing at multiple community theaters around the Phoenix Valley, Tatum had the valuable experience of collaborating with a variety of talented creatives and actors throughout her elementary, middle, and high school years. While in-between shows, she also also gained experience on the other side of the curtain by working as both a stagehand and spotlight operator. Later, she would work behind the scenes again as a producer, bringing her favorite play to her hometown community theatre.
After graduating high school, Tatum moved to Boston in order to earn her BFA in Musical Theatre and study in Emerson College’s Honors Program. There, she was able to further hone her craft and found a passion for performing in original, student-written works. Amidst her busy schedule, she used her elective space to further her skills as a creative writer and took courses in both playwriting and screenwriting.
In her free time, Tatum is likely shopping for vintage clothes, attending trivia nights with friends, researching her newest pop-culture obsession, or going to bed early. A lover of cooking and desserts, Tatum works in the bakery of a local Phoenix pie shop; only time will tell if this life experience will lead her to perform in Waitress (or, as some have eagerly pointed out, Sweeney Todd). She frequents her local library and would love to hear about what you’re currently reading.
From Shakespeare to new musicals, Tatum loves finding out what a piece requires of her while also putting herself into the work. As she begins her post-grad career, Tatum hopes to foster community and compassion through her work in the arts.
